Grenada Under 17 Girls defeated St. Vincent and the Grenadines Under 17 Girls yesterday, Sunday December 15, 2019, 3-1 in a Friendly match at Lauriston mini Stadium in Carriacou.
It was history in the making for the Grenada Football Association (GFA) and Carriacou as this was the first ever International football match played in Carriacou.
Grenada’s Striker Ruth Lewis had a brace (2 goals) coming in the 15 minute and 46 minute respectively. That was Lewis first International brace.
An own goal by St. Vincent’s Tishana James in the 38 minute of play sealed the deal for Grenada to be the victors of the match.
St. Vincent and the Grenadines lone goal game of the boot of Kiziann Providence in the 30 minute of play.
In the second match played between the Grenada Senior Womens National team and St. Vincent and the Grenadines National team ended scoreless.
GFA Women’s Development Officer, Harry Varley, commended the girls for a job well done and believes more needs to be done in developing the team’s strategies.
He noted that training will be continue into the next year, together with a few more friendlies.
